Extreme E debutant Klara Andersson receives Zenith Moment in Time award

As in all Extreme E races, Zenith and social media users voted to highlight one driver who caught their eye with a jaw-dropping performance through this ‘Moment In Time’ prize.

In the all-electric series' penultimate race of the season, the Antofagasta Minerals Copper X Prix, Extreme E Championship Driver Klara Andersson replaced the injured Jutta Kleinschmidt in Chile for ABT CUPRA XE.

Kleinschmidt was ruled out of competing after suffering an injury from a crash in Free Practice 2. The German’s absence meant that 22-year-old Andersson stepped into the vacant seat to partner Nasser Al-Attiyah for the remainder of the X Prix.

The Swede showed no sign of nerves, earning the ‘Moment in Time’ award with amazing performances for ABT CUPRA XE in Semi-Final 2 and the Final, which ended with the team stepping onto the podium to take third.

This marked the ABT CUPRA XE's first podium of Extreme E Season 2, and meant a top three finish for Andersson in her very first race in the Championship.

Picking up the award, Klara Andersson said: “The weekend in Chile has been like a little motorsport fairytale for me - from the first phone call on Friday until the podium on Sunday.

“Being awarded with the Zenith ‘Moment in Time’ award makes me really proud and is the cherry on the cake - and my teammate Nasser [Al-Attiyah] presented it in a very charming way. I would like to thank all the fans and media for their great support over the last weekend.”
