Extreme E and Aurora Media Worldwide are double category finalists in 2022 Broadcast Sport Awards

Ground-breaking motorsport series, Extreme E, and its host broadcast agency, Aurora Media Worldwide, are delighted to be shortlisted as finalists in two categories in this year’s coveted Broadcast Sport Awards. The duo has been nominated for: Best Original Content by a Rights Holder and Best Sports Graphic for a Live Production.

The Broadcast Sport Awards, which take place on 1 November 2022 at the London Hilton hotel on Park Lane, honour the most creative and inspiring examples of sports production, sports broadcast and digital sports content of the last year. The Awards also highlight the outstanding people working in-front-of and behind the camera.

Ali Russell, Chief Marketing Officer at Extreme E, said: “It is such a huge honour for both us and our host broadcast agency Aurora Media Worldwide, to be shortlisted for these awards especially alongside some of the biggest and most established names in sport.

“As a digital-first motor racing championship that is here to break boundaries and challenge perceptions about electric racing, sustainability and gender equality, it’s essential that we deliver a world class entertainment package. It must clearly show the breadth of what we do, not just our superb wheel-to-wheel off-road racing, but also our legacy and environmental initiatives that make us such a unique motor sport series. To be nominated for our hard work and our achievements in the original content and graphics categories is fantastic.”

Aurora Media Worldwide and Extreme E employ a string of innovative and cutting-edge techniques, including specialised cameras, remote race control facilities to pull of the delivery of this dynamic off-road series which takes place in some of the world’s most remote locations.

The winners of the Broadcast Sport Awards will be revealed at a gala awards dinner just ahead of Extreme E’s first foray to Punta Del Este, Uruguay, for the Season 2 finale on 26-27 November.

Since the series launched Extreme E has won the following awards, and was also recognised at the inaugural BBC Sport Green Awards earlier this month:

SVG (Sports Video Group) Awards 2022: One Planet award for Sustainability in Sports (TV) and Outstanding Production (Event) award
Sport Industry Awards 2022: Environmental Sustainability Award
The Race Media Awards 2022: Brand of the Year, alongside Interstate Creative Partners
Motorsport UK’s Night of Champions 2022: 2022 Environmental Award
Broadcast Tech Awards 2021: Technical Innovation (Sport) Award and Creative Use of AR/VR, alongside Aurora Media Worldwide and North One
