Tambay and Schönborn to serve as Extreme E and Extreme H Reserve Drivers

London, 2 October, 2025: Extreme E and Extreme H have announced that Adrien Tambay and Claire Schönborn will serve as its Reserve Drivers in Qiddiya.
As Reserve Drivers, Tambay and Schönborn will perform crucial testing, and help finalise the course layouts, as well as being on hand as reserve drivers should any team need to draft in a replacement during the final Extreme E weekend or the FIA Extreme H World Cup.
Tambay previously competed in the 2023 Copper X-Prix with Abt Cupra alongside former-Reserve Driver turned series regular Klara Andersson.
The Frenchman has had a hugely varied career across single seater racing, sports cars, touring cars, and ice racing in the Andros Trophy, with podiums across the likes of GP3 and DTM. He was also the FIA ETCR – eTouring Car World Cup champion in 2022.
Adrien Tambay, Extreme E and Extreme H reserve driver, said: “I'm very happy to be joining Extreme E and Extreme H as a reserve driver.
“I had the opportunity in 2023 to do a race for Cupra replacing Sebastien Loeb, I had a very good experience there, and when I got the call I was very happy to come here and help out in a country, in a place I never seen before. I'm also looking forward to testing the hydrogen car.”
Schönborn is a German automotive engineer turned rally driver whose career has quickly shifted after she won the WRC Beyond Rally Women’s Driver Development Programme. This earned her a fully funded junior WRC drive with the WRC Young Driver Team for 2025.
Now contesting in events across gravel, snow, and tarmac in a Ford Fiesta Rally3, Schönborn is regarded as one of the sport's most promising new talents, combining technical expertise with rapid progress on the stages.
Claire Schönborn, Extreme E and Extreme H reserve driver, said: “To be Extreme E and Extreme H reserve driver, It's a big opportunity because I have never raced in the desert, and also not with this type of car.
“I really enjoyed the testing and I’m looking forward to the race.”
James Taylor, Chief Championship Officer, Extreme E and Extreme H, said: “Adrian and Claire are both top drivers. Adrian’s experience in multiple motorsports disciplines and Claire’s energy and raw talent make them a great pairing as our series drivers.”
