Carl Cox Motorsport returns for Extreme E Final Lap with Scheider and Andersson

London, 24 September, 2025: Carl Cox Motorsport will return to action after a season-long sabbatical to take part in Extreme E’s Final Lap celebration (October 4-5) and the inaugural FIA Extreme H World Cup Presented by PIF, in Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia on October 9-11 2025.

Carl Cox Motorsport is the high-energy embodiment of Carl Cox's lifelong love affair with speed and sound. Founded in 2013 after a chance encounter with a grassroots sidecar team in New Zealand, the brand quickly evolved from a modest sponsorship into a global motorsport force. With roots in rallycross, drag racing and sidecar racing, the team reflects Carl’s deep respect for underdog grit and mechanical artistry.

Driven by heart, not hype, Carl Cox Motorsport has backed riders and teams at the Isle of Man TT, New Zealand Superbike Series and beyond; earning respect for its authenticity and results. Whether supporting sidecars, solo riders. electric innovation or trailblazing women in the World WCR Championship, the team champions diversity, legacy and raw talent.

Always keen to push boundaries and speed up innovation, the team made its Extreme E debut in 2023 and wasted little time in becoming competitive, taking third place in only its third start at the Hydro X Prix with Scheider and Christine Giampaoli Zonca. After spending a year away to focus on its Extreme H preparations, Carl Cox Motorsport is now back and eager to pick up where it left off.

Carl Cox, Founder of Carl Cox Motorsport, said: “I am very happy to be returning to Extreme E and H for the Final lap of racing this year with my team, Carl Cox Motorsport. Looking forward to working and meeting the teams again, as it has been very powerful and exciting to watch the racing, and a lot of fun too. It is very important to me to be involved with the legacy project, so back to the track, where Carl Cox Motorsport belongs. Oh Yess!!"

Scheider, who will also serve as the Carl Cox Motorsport Team Principal as well as one of its drivers, is a bonafide motorsport legend, with two titles in DTM in 2008 and 2009, arguably in one of the German touring car series' most competitive eras. He's demonstrated his versatility by taking podium finishes in the A1 Grand Prix single seater series, and in the GT2 class at Le Mans as well, and won the second World Rallycross round in South Africa in 2023 as well.

Timo Scheider, Driver and Team principal for Carl Cox Motorsport, said: “It feels fantastic to return to Carl Cox Motorsport, this time not only as a driver but also as team principal. I’ve had the privilege of racing with Carl and the team before in Extreme E, and now to take on the brand-new Extreme H World Cup together in Saudi Arabia is an exciting new chapter. What really makes this team so special is the incredible positive energy that Carl brings and that flows through everyone. That spirit means a lot to me personally, and I truly believe it’s our recipe for success. I can’t wait to get back out there with this amazing crew and take on this new challenge together."

Scheider reunites with Andersson, with whom he competed for the SUN Minimeal Team in Extreme E in 2024.

Andersson took Extreme E by storm in 2022, coming in as a late replacement at the Copper X Prix in Chile, where she finished third to become the series' youngest-ever podium finisher and the first to finish on the rostrum on her debut outside those who took part in the series' maiden race. She added the youngest winner accolade a round later, securing victory at the Energy X Prix in Uruguay for Abt Cupra alongside Nasser Al-Attyah, then added a further three podiums in the 2023 season.

Outside of Extreme E, Andersson won the 2021 Swedish Rallycross Championship in the SM 2150 category, and has taken three podiums in the FIA World Rallycross Championship. She most recently took to the Goodwood hillclimb, trying out the Pioneer 25 for the first time.

Klara Andersson, Driver for Carl Cox Motorsport, said: “I'm incredibly happy to join Carl Cox Motorsport and be back alongside Timo again for the last Extreme E race and the first Extreme H World Cup! We only had a few races together but the mentality and the passion of the team was truly amazing, and I'm really excited to be back with everyone and continue the work that we started last year! Also super cool to race for the legend Carl Cox himself, our mission is to make him proud!”

James Taylor, Chief Championships Officer, Extreme E and Extreme H, said: “We are thrilled to welcome back Carl Cox to the paddock. His Carl Cox Motorsport team is a serious contender for the podium, bringing experience that spans across a wide range of racing disciplines.

“Beyond Carl's bigger than life personality, and the team’s competitive record, they bring a professional structure, seasoned leadership in Timo Scheider, and the talent of Klara Andersson. We’re all looking forward to seeing how their motorsport pedigree translates into hydrogen racing and the new challenges ahead.”

Qiddiya City is the world’s first city built entirely for play, where entertainment, sport, and culture converge. The race will take place with the dramatic backdrop of the Tuwaiq Mountains, close to the site which is currently undergoing transformation to become a world-leading motorsport venue.

The FIA Extreme H World Cup Presented by PIF will make history as the first international race event to use hydrogen-powered vehicles. Marking a new future for motorsport, defined by cutting-edge technology and bold ambition.

Further details on the event will be revealed over the coming weeks as the event countdown continues at pace.
