UK Green Business Award Finalist 2025

24 March 2025:  Extreme E has been shortlisted for the Renewable Energy Project of the Year Award at the UK Green Business Awards, alongside its Official Green Hydrogen partner, ENOWA.

Business Green is Europe’s leading green business media platform, and the UK Green Business Awards recognises those who are at the forefront of the UK's burgeoning green economy and leading its transition towards a net zero future.

In partnership with ENOWA, the energy, water, and hydrogen subsidiary of NEOM, the Extreme E series achieved a landmark milestone at Scotland’s Hydro X Prix, in July 2024. At the event, 80 percent of its power was generated on site using a built for purpose, zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell system, equivalent to powering 1,000 UK homes for a day.

This breakthrough positions the championship on a strong path to becoming a fully zero-emission sport. Extreme E has recently publicised its plans to relaunch as the FIA Extreme H World Cup, and position hydrogen even more firmly as part of its proposition as the world’s first hydrogen-powered motorsport.

The series’ continued partnership with ENOWA has redefined what sustainable partnerships can achieve, not just in motorsport, but across the global events industry. This collaboration has gone beyond traditional models, acting as a true sustainability innovation partnership that pioneers green hydrogen solutions and sets new benchmarks for emissions reduction.

By implementing its technologies in motorsport, a high-profile and traditionally carbon-intensive setting, Extreme E offered a credible test bed for ENOWA to develop its capabilities, creating an industry-leading solution which placed itself at the forefront of clean energy event production.

Ali Russell, Managing Director of the FIA Extreme H World Cup, commented: “We are honoured to be recognised by Business Green for our efforts in sustainability alongside our valued partner ENOWA. Extreme E was built with purpose at its core, to showcase electric mobility, raise climate awareness, and leave a positive impact on the planet, which we will continue to drive as we evolve into Extreme H. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our teams, partners, and fans who believe in our mission.”
